Where are you from and how has being there affected your creativity?
I am from Chicago, IL. Growing up in Chicago gave me a sort of hunger for more in life. I knew growing up that I didn’t want to go the drug or gang route, even with a lot of my family and friends involved. Being able to stay true to my self, and also be accepted by my peers allowed me to move to the beat of my own drum.
Explain what initially got you into shooting?
What initially got me in to shooting was actually the US Navy. I joined the Navy after a year in college at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. When I went to sign my enlistment papers, the only job available at the time was a Mass Communication Specialist, which is basically means you cover, photography, videography, print, journalism, graphic design, everything basically. I thought wow this sounds like a super dope job, and that’s exactly what it was, I loved the job, and it helped me to find my true passion.

I personally love watching a large variety of television series. I love shows that take their time in the creation process, and really put thought and work into the look of different scenes, Game of Thrones is definitely my favorite show, however breaking bad is where I get a lot of my inspiration, from the way they convey mood in there scenes.
What camera setup do you currently use (camera, lens, other accessories, etc)?
I currently shoot with a Sony A7S2 equipped with a battery grip because I have large hands, my two primary lenses are a 55mm 1.8 and a 35mm 2.8. I also do a lot of shooting with my Ronin-M.
What do you specialize in or what do you enjoy shooting the most and why?
I would say that specialize in shooting, and I enjoy shooting live events and recaps the most, because I love capturing people when there vulnerable. The moment they hear a song they love, or a friend says something funny, and they show their true emotions, I’m usually always around to capture it. Those are the moments, that make viewers wish that they were their as well.
Since we believe that music is the center around all things creative, what are your top 3 music albums, and what about those albums that gets you in a creative zone?
My top 3 music albums would have to be, Bryson Tiller Trapsoul, the melodic feels of this album and how he used his vocals as well as the beats to bring the songs to life, its like they painted pictures in my head, that became blueprints for other projects or thoughts or ideas. I also was a huge fan of Rick Ross Black bar mitzfah, that album/mixtape, really motivated me to get on my shit, and start working. As a third I would have to say Kendrick Lamar, Good Kid Maad City, that album just showed me that I was on the right path with what I was doing with my life.
Who are some shooters that you follow and what do you admire about their work?
I follow Shot by Spencer, Colin Tilley and Benny Boom as well as check out the work of many others. I like to follow these peoples work as a way to stay focused, I admire their passion as well as how they are making it more of a lifestyle opposed to just being a craft.
What is one tangible piece of advice that you would give somebody who has just started shooting (and not just keep shooting)?
A tangible piece of advice I would give is, to take risk and put yourself out there. I learned a lot from being in different scenarios, from how to shoot around certain people, to getting over the nervousness about feeling like everyone is watching you. Its also great to talk to people and network, because you never know who knows who, your time may come and you might not be ready for it, but you will have to choose, either wing it, or pass it on.
Random Question: What is something that most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that, I do all of my work and editing in my truck, in the front seat lol, I have an ipad mounted on my dash board that I watch movies on, and I get it in editing and watching movies and tv shows.
What is next for you?
I honestly don’t know whats next, I never have. What I do know is that I am building a lot of valuable relationships in the music industry and I am growing at an exponential rate, and excited for the challenges to come.
