A couple of months ago, I did a Behind the Scenes video for a personal chef in the area, Chef Ponder, and the photographer that was killing the shots was this guy, Lo Garcia. After following him after that shoot, realized that he is incredibly dope. All of his images represent a very high end fashion editorial. Check out the profile to see exactly what he is about.

My name is Lo Garcia and I’m a fashion, beauty, and portrait photographer.
Where are you from and how has being there affected your creativity?
I was born and raised in Hampton Roads, which had little effect in my creativity. However, arts programs in the area were outlets for my creativity.
Explain what initially got you into shooting?
I was a fashion blogger a few years back and I was using my cell phone to capture my look book posts. I was gifted a DLSR camera to upgrade my photos and I eventually shifted from my look book posts to shooting models and other subjects.

An average day is working as an engineer M-F.

Canon 70d, Alien Bee strobes, soft boxes, beauty dishes, Vflats, Sigma Art 35mm lens

Anything Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey, 90’s Rnb. No particular album.

Mert and Marcus, Patrick Demarchelier. I just love their shooting style, everything about it is inspiring to me.
What is one tangible piece of advice that you would give somebody who has just started shooting? (besides shooting more)
Practice, take constructive criticism, and challenge yourself each time you pick up your camera, always be open to learning something new.
What is next for you?
What is next? Hopefully in the next year, move away from VA and move to NY or CA. My goal is to shoot for major campaigns, ads, and magazines.
