What is your name and what do you do?
My name is Joshua Maclin and I am an artist. Music is my first love. I have been a drummer since before I can remember, playing for multiple bands, in and outside of school, as well a church every Sunday. I work with 4-H as a program facilitator, teaching youth the creative process through filmmaking and photography. Currently studying sociology and business at Virginia Commonwealth University, my hopes are to continue working with youth in the digital media/art field in addition pursuing a professional career in photography.

Where are you from and how has being there affected your creativity?
I am from a small town in Chesterfield County called Ettrick, Va. Living in the 804 area has had positive effects on my creativity to an extent. I have been fortunate enough to connect with some pretty amazing creatives in the area, a lot of which have become great friends, and I feel that although this place doesn’t provide a huge amount of opportunity like a New York or Los Angeles, I have been able to make the best of every situation positive or negative.

What do you specialize in or what do you enjoy shooting the most and why?
I absolutely love shooting fashion and beauty portraiture. I am so passionate about these two types of photography because it is where I get display my creativity in addition to being able to work with a team of creatives. Collaboration is so important to me; I cherish and value each and every person’s creative opinion while on set and it always yields a better result than what I could have done on my own.

Since we believe that music is the center around all things creative, what are your top 3 music albums, and what about those albums that gets you in a creative zone?
My go-to music to get in the zone is literally whatever I’m feeling like for that day. One day i’d throw on some Kendrick, the next Hiatus Kaiyote, and another day I might throw on a Soulection playlist or some random Chillstep playlist off youtube.
