What is your name and what do you do?
Jason, I go by Jay. I’m a photographer.
Where are you from and how has being there affected your creativity?
I am from Delray Beach, FL. I believe that being from sunny South Florida I really enjoy natural light. I was always outside as a kid and have a strong visual attraction for textures.
Explain what initially got you into shooting?
I purchased my wife a Canon 50D to help her start her Photography. As she lost interest I picked up the camera. It hasn’t left my hands since.
Explain what does an average day look like for you?
Photography isn’t my main job. I work as a Business Analyst by day. After 5pm I am usually meeting a Family or a Model for a Photoshoot.
What things do you look at or watch for inspiration?
I read/look at a ton of fashion magazines for inspiration.
What is a quote or motto that you live by?
“Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready” and “Shoot how it feels, not how it looks”
What camera setup do you currently use (camera, lens, other accessories, etc)?
Sony A7rii. I usually shoot with the 85mm Batis Lens.
What do you specialize in or what do you enjoy shooting the most and why?
Weddings, Family, and Models. I really enjoy shooting people.
Since we believe that music is the center around all things creative, what are your top 3 music albums, and what about those albums that gets you in a creative zone?
56 Nights by Future, his music is great to zone out and edit to. Carl Thomas’ Emotional Album is amazing. Great for love inspiration. Run the Jewels. I am a mega Killer Mike fan.
Who are some shooters that you follow and what do you admire about their work?
Terry Richardson, he’s raw, unapologetic and uncut. Peter Coulson, just amazing and clean work.
What is one tangible piece of advice that you would give somebody who has just started shooting? (besides shooting more) Trust your vision. Don’t let anyone change what you see. But be open to how you see it.

To learn how to shoot Interior Design.
