What is your name and what do you do?
My name is Lisa Godwin. I am a consultant within the media/entertainment industry from a business technology perspective. For the past 10 years I’ve been producing immersive experiential products for strategic partnerships in order to generate brand growth and revenue . I consult brands in helping them transform an idea for their digital properties and seize their opportunities at the intersection of business strategy and technology. This includes defining the roles and goals of new product development within an organization, the kinds of products, markets and technologies to focus on, and the resources that need to be allocated to the specific product development initiatives.
Where are you from and how has being from there affected you?
I am from Suffolk, Virginia. Being from the 757 area of Virginia has pushed me to exceed the boundaries of my career to double my work ethics to demonstrate the amazing talents that are in smaller markets that are often times overlooked.
As a child what did you want to be and why?
A lawyer because Im a great debater.
What does an average day look like for you?
No day is ever the same which can be a good/bad thing yet exciting because I am prepared for both. My main client is The New York Times so some days are demanding especially within the news industry.
What has helped your business get to where you at now?
Drop the mañana mantra. Tomorrow is not promised. A question I often tell others and I had to ask myself, “Are you trying to build a life or make a living?”.
What has been a tangible hack or a short cut that has helped you get to where you are at now?
Observation! This is not necessarily a hack/short cut but this is a vital part of my success. Observe whats happening in the industry that you are passionate about and create your plan of action to be an asset.
Random: What is your favorite TV show of all time?
Wow this is difficult to decide because I literally watch reruns of Martin, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, or Full House everyday. However for current day shows, I am a Walking Dead fan.
What is next for yourself?
